• What is the European Youth Card (EYC)?

At its core, the European Youth Card (EYC) allows you to access discounts and opportunities across Europe. If you are travelling or staying locally, the EYC offers a broad selection of online and in-store advantages. It also allows you to participate in programmes and dedicated events only available to cardholders.

• Is there a difference between the cards issued in different countries?

The European Youth Card is, in fact, a series a cards issued by different partners in different countries but that all have access to the same discounts across Europe. Therefore, you can get the card from any country and have access to all the discounts outlined on our discount portfolio! 

In practice, we encourage you to get the card from the country in which you reside. This is because some additional discounts might be available to local cards only.

• What is the age restriction for using the EYC?

The European Youth Card is available to all young people, regardless of their country of origin, as long as they are under the age of 31 (or 26 depending on your country). Make sure to check the conditions before getting the card.

• How much does it cost?

The price varies from country to country. More information on this can be found on our members’ websites. Check out the card in your country for more information.

• I’m not from Europe, can I get the EYC?

Of course! The EYC is available to any young person, no matter their nationality or where they live as long as they are younger than 31 years of age. If that's you, head to our online Kiosk to get the card within minutes!

• Where can I get the EYC?

You can get the EYC via our online Kiosk - select your country and you will be redirected to the relevant website (i.e. if one of our members distributes the card in your country, you’ll be redirected to their website).

We recommend getting the card from the country you are residing in, to make the most of the local perks.

• How can I access the card?

Before accessing the card, you first need to order it. Follow the steps in ‘Where can I get the EYC?’

After that:

  • Did you get the EYC with one of our members? They will contact you with the next steps.
  • Did you get the card from the EYCA website? After you complete your purchase, we’ll send you an email with all the information you need.

Once you’ve ordered the card, the next steps vary according to the member with which placed the order. If you got the card via the EYCA website, you will receive an email with all the relevant information.

• Will I receive a plastic card?

If you bought your card from the EYCA Kiosk, then it’s available via the EYC app solely. Plastic cards are no longer available as advertised.

If you got your card with one of our members, please check on their website.

• I bought my card via the EYCA Kiosk, but have not received it.

Orders from the EYCA Kiosk are processed automatically. Your card details will appear on the screen directly after the purchase and will also be sent to your email address.

2. QUESTIONS ABOUT THE EYC MOBILE APPS

• Where can I download the EYC apps?

There are several EYC apps that are to be used for different cards. The most foolproof way of accessing the correct app is to follow the instructions in the email you received with the card details.

If you got your card via one of our members, check out their website for information about the correct app to use.

If you got your card via the EYCA Kiosk, the app is available on:

  • Android via this link (add link) or by searching for ‘NAME’
  • Apple IOS via this link (add link) or by searching for ‘NAME’

If you got your card as part of the European Solidarity Corps, the app is available on:

  • Android via this link (add link) or by searching for ‘NAME’
  • Apple IOS via this link (add link) or by searching for ‘NAME’

If you got your card as part of DiscoverEU, you can access it via the DiscoverEU app.

• Can I access the EYC apps without having a card?

No, you first need to get a European Youth Card to be able to register in the apps.

• What is my EYCA number and how can I use it?

Your EYCA number, also known as the CCDB number, is a code unique to your European Youth Card. It allows you to register in the EYC app and access online discounts.

In most cases, the EYCA number has 16 numbers and letters (i.e. X000-X000-X000-X000). However, in some cases the format is a little different. In every case, it is communicated to you by the organisation that distributed your European Youth Card.

Some of our members might also provide you with a ‘Card number’. This is different to your EYCA number and cannot be used to access online discounts.

• My card won’t load in the app.

Please try resetting the app. To do this, you need to log out-in and hard close the app. This should allow your card to appear.

• I put the wrong card number in the app

When registering in the EYC app, if you put the incorrect card number, this same incorrect number will appear on your card.

It will update automatically after a few days, but you may need to reset the app. To do this, log out-in and hard close the app. Your correct card number should then appear.

• I put the wrong name or date of birth in the app

To make any changes to your name or date of birth, you need to contact EYCA. Send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the following information:

  • Your correct name
  • Your correct date of birth
  • Your EYCA number (i.e. X000-X000-X000-X000)

• How do I update my new EYCA number in the app?

If your previous EYCA number is expired and you received a new one, you will need to update the app. To update your profile with the new EYCA number, fill in this form on the EYCA website.

After filling in this form, the EYCA number will automatically update in your app. However, if this change does not appear, you should ‘reset’ the app. To do this, log out-in and hard close the app. The new EYCA number should then appear.

• My EYCA number is marked as incorrect

When registering in the EYC apps, you may get a notification stating that your EYCA number in incorrect. There are several possible issues at cause:

  • You might be using the incorrect app. Please make sure you have downloaded the app stated in the email or follow the links provided in the email.
  • You have not typed the EYCA number in the right place. This needs to be included in the top box of the sign-up page, in the section marked as ‘EYCA number’.
  • You have incorrectly typed the EYCA number. Please double-check this.
  • If you already had an account on the EYC app in the past, you’ll need to simply update the card number and log into your previous account. Fill in this form on the EYCA website. 

3. QUESTIONS ABOUT DISCOUNTS

• Where can I see the full list of discounts?

The discounts available to all European Youth Cards, no matter through which organisation they are issued, are available on the discounts page of the EYCA website.

It is possible that some additional discounts are accessible to cards bought locally. This is due to the agreement between the discount provider and our members. As such, we recommend getting the card from the country you are based in, to make the most of the local perks.

• How can I access in-store discounts?

You need to show your European Youth Card. The retailer may also ask for your ID to prove your identity.

• How can I access online discounts?

For online discounts, you may need to enter your EYCA number (16 digits) which can be found on your European Youth Card.

• Are all discounts available to all EYC cards?

It is possible that some additional discounts are accessible to cards bought locally. This is due to the agreement between the discount provider and our members. As such, we recommend getting the card from the country you are based in, to make the most of the local perks.

• I was unable to access a discount, what can I do?

If you’ve been unable to access a discount, please make sure to check our website to verify the conditions. If you meet the discount’s conditions, but were anyway refused a discount, send us an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. explaining the situation and we’ll aim to resolve it quickly.

4. THE CARD FOR EUROPEAN SOLIDARITY CORPS (ESC) PARTICIPANTS 

• What’s the difference between the European Youth Card and the EYC for European Solidarity Corps Participants?

All cards allow you to access thousands of discounts across Europe, and unlock opportunities for skills development. The full list of discounts available to all cards is available on the discounts page of the EYCA website.

The difference between these cards is how you can get them:

• I’m a European Solidarity Corps participant, how can I get the European Volunteer Card?

All European Solidarity Corps participants will receive their cards automatically and free of charge from the European Commission. After having started your ESC project, you will receive an email with your EYCA number and the instructions to follow.

The European Volunteer Card is accessible exclusively via the ESC Youth Card apps on Android and IOS (add link).

If you did not receive your European Youth Card, follow the steps on the European Volunteer Card section of the EYCA website.

• How long is the validity of the EYC for European Solidarity Corps participants?

The European Youth Card for ESC volunteers is valid for 18 months from the moment you receive the email containing the card information.

It is possible that, when you first access your card on the app, the validity is incorrect. It will be updated automatically within 7 days, but you may need to reset the app. To do this, log out-in and hard close the app. The correct expiry date should then appear.

5. THE EYC FOR DISCOVEREU PARTICIPANTS

• What’s the difference between the European Youth Card, the European Volunteer Card (ESC) and the DiscoverEU European Youth Card?

All cards allow you to access thousands of discounts across Europe, and unlock opportunities for skills development. The full list of discounts available to all cards is available on the discounts page of the EYCA website.

The difference between these cards is how you can get them:

  • The European Youth Card can be ordered through the EYCA members and via the EYCA Kiosk.
  • The EYC for European Solidarity Corps participants is available to anyone currently doing a voluntary project under the European Solidarity Corps. More information is on the European Volunteer Card section of the EYCA website.
  • The DiscoverEU European Youth Card is available to anyone participating the DiscoverEU programme.

• What is the validity of the DiscoverEU EYC?

The DiscoverEU European Youth Card is valid for 12 months from the moment you activate it in the app. Once the card is activated, it is no longer possible to change the expiry date. Make sure to plan this activation according to your travel period.

• I received a DiscoverEU pass, how can I access the associated EYC?

All DiscoverEU participants receive a European Youth Card. It is free of charge. The information to access the card is sent by email by the team arranging your DiscoverEU travel participation.

To access the DiscoverEU European Youth Card, you need to log into the DiscoverEU app. This card cannot be accessed via the other EYC apps.

It is valid for 12 months from the moment it is activated.

• I won a DiscoverEU pass, and I accidentally activated the European Youth Card. How can it be deactivated?

This issue is only relevant to DiscoverEU participants who received their European Youth Card before July 2023. As of now, the DiscoverEU Travel App will automatically activate your European Youth Card to match with your travel period!
