In September 2018, EYCA and the European Parliament signed a Memorandum of Understanding joining forces to encourage more young people to participate in the upcoming EU elections and become more engaged in the democratic process at all levels, from the local to the European.

2019 EU Elections - #GIVEAVOTE Campaign

EYCA worked to support the European Parliament campaign for the EU elections 2019 – This Time, I’m Voting. European Youth Card communications channels will be used to inform the over 6 million cardholders on the importance of participating in the elections and casting their vote. Cardholders will also have the opportunity to participate in events related to the elections and organised by the European Parliament.

At the same time, the European Parliament will support EYCA initiatives aiming to raise awareness of the EU elections among European Youth Cardholders, most of whom are non-organised young people.

“As always, we are committed to empowering young people and giving them the tools they need to get informed and make a difference by voting. We are very happy to work together with the European Parliament to achieve this goal and encourage as many young people as possible to take ownership of the European Project.” Manel Sanchez, EYCA Director

EYCA will also organise a large-scale initiative in support of youth participation in the EU elections in collaboration with 12 of its member organisations in EU member states. Other EYCA members in EU member states will support this initiative. In addition, EYCA members outside the EU will also encourage their cardholders to get involved in the democratic process at the national and local levels.

2021 - Conference on the Future of Europe | #StandForSomething

The European Youth Card Association (EYCA) recently ran a campaign to inform and engage young people with the Conference on the future of Europe. This campaign was focused on raising awareness among young people about the Conference, encouraging them to participate in the discussions and to have their say in shaping the future of the European Union. The campaign included a variety of activities, such as social media campaigns, information sessions, and events to inform young people about the Conference and to encourage them to participate in the discussions. EYCA also collaborated with its member organisations and a youth lead team of volunteers to mobilise young people to participate in the Conference and to ensure that the voices of young people were heard in the discussions. Through this campaign, EYCA aimed to ensure that the young people had a say in shaping the future of the European Union and that their voices were heard in the discussions of the Conference on the future of Europe.

Latest News!

The European Youth Card Association is proud to announce that it will be supporting the European Parliament in reaching out to young people to increase youth participation in the 2024 EU elections. EYCA, a non-profit organization that represents more than 40 million young people in Europe, is committed to promoting youth participation in democracy and encouraging young people to have their say in the future of the European Union.

The EU elections are an important opportunity for young people to have a say in the direction of the EU and shape the policies that affect their lives. However, in the past, youth participation in EU elections has been low. In the 2014 EU elections, only 28% of young people voted, the lowest turnout among all age groups. This is a cause for concern, as young people constitute the largest demographic in Europe and their participation is crucial for the EU to truly represent the interests and needs of all Europeans.

EYCA believes that the key to increasing youth participation in EU elections is to make the process more accessible and engaging for young people. To this end, EYCA will be working closely with our member organisations to develop a comprehensive outreach strategy that will target young people in ountries where EYCA is present. This strategy will include a variety of activities, such as social media campaigns, information sessions, and events to raise awareness about the EU elections and the importance of youth participation.
